The new year is just around the corner. In less than seven weeks, we will be entering 2018. How did time fly so fast!? Is it just me or is each year passing by quicker and quicker? There are so many things that I want to accomplish before 2017 finishes. Join me and check out the list below of 10 things that you need to do before 2018.
1. Deep clean your space
No one wants to do this but the feeling to a new year with a clean space is revitalising. No dust, no laundry, no mess. Better yet, make it a habit in 2018 to do a weekly clean, and always put things back after you use them.
2. Clean up your inbox, desktop and photos
Now that we are on the topic of cleaning, if you are the type of person that has 5000+ emails in their inbox, a cluttered desktop and gazillion photos, this will be a tedious task. Better start now than later when the emails, clutter and photos pile up! You want to free some space for the new memories that 2018 will bring.
3. Donate unwanted items to charity
Yes I am talking about that sweater you haven’t worn in years. If you aren’t using an item, donate it to charity. It is likely to be in better hands than laying around collecting dust.
4. Plan your budget
Planning is an important part of your life. Knowing where your hard-earned money is going makes it easier for you to manage your finances. If you are thinking of going on a holiday in 2018, create a budget to save for that trip. If you are getting married in 2018, create a budget to save for the wedding. Think about what big expense(s) are happening in 2018 and create a budget to save your money.
5. Visit your doctor or dentist
This is something I constantly struggle with, especially the dentist (dentist phobia) but I have taken up the courage to go for an oral examination (ouch). Good news: my oral health is A+. Bad news: I am more scared of the dentist than ever. On a serious note, taking care of our health is so important. Go for a check up with your doctor or dentist, and encourage your friends and family to do so.
6. Compliment a stranger whenever you go out
Have you ever felt happiness when a complete stranger gives you a nice comment or even strikes up a friendly conversation when you are out and about? It is the greatest feeling. Make someone feel really good about themselves, and give them a compliment. We need more nice compliments in this world, so join the movement!
7. Think about where you want to travel to in 2018
Planning your travel trips in advance is advantageous because you can save up for it now and plan out your year around your trips.
8. Treat yourself
With the holiday season fast approaching, we often forget to treat ourselves in the hustle and bustle to get your holiday gifts all sorted. Remember that thing you have been eyeing for ages? Why not treat yourself!
9. Have a picnic
Picnics are so underrated. It is great to go outdoors rather than stay inside all the time. Pack a nice picnic, bring along a friend or two (or the whole squad) and have a lovely day out. Your mind will instantly become much more relaxed.
10. Plan your 2018 goals
With 2017 right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what you want to achieve in 2018. For me, I intend to become more financially stable, continue growing my business and my blog, and staying happy and healthy. Knowing what I want to achieve helps shape the decisions I make today that will affect the future.
